ABOUT US

Missions Consulting International is based on more than 50 years of ministry in world missions by Dr. Bob Waldron, 25 of those years at the helm of various missions ministries.

Its purpose is to serve the missions community by providing:

    • Assessments of stateside church missions programs.
    • Consultations with stateside congregational missions leaders and facilitating training seminars for those leaders.
    • Resources that are outcomes of research requested by the missions community and especially by Missions Resource Network.

Bob was converted at Pepperdine University while attending on an academic scholarship.  After encountering Christ, he changed his major, graduating in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in Religion and a minor in New Testament Greek.  In 1984 he graduated from Abilene Christian University with an M.A. in Missions.  He received his doctorate in Missiology in 1998 from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with an emphasis on urban anthropology/evangelism.

He began his preaching ministry in 1962 by ministering to a Japanese-American congregation in Los Angeles and then in Juneau, Alaska.  Bob and his wife, Gina, moved with their three young children to Guatemala in 1972 where he planted churches and trained church leaders.  Upon their return he taught missions and Bible at the Bear Valley School of Biblical Studies in Denver and Abilene Christian University where he founded McCaleb Institute for Missions Education, a ministry to equip local churches for more informed missions decisions.

Bob also served for 10 years as co-executive director of Continent of Great Cities, now known as Great Cities Ministries, recruiting and training  long-term, church-planting teams of missionaries for South America's capital cities.  He was also the founding executive director of Missions Resource Network from 1998-2010, and then served as their director for research and global planning from 2010-2012.  Now, through this new ministry, Bob will continue to collaborate with MRN, serving them in the areas of assessing and consulting churches, facilitating seminars for church missions committees and conducting research.
For more than 25 years Bob has facilitated weekend missions workshops for congregational leaders in numerous American churches from coast to coast.

He is the author of A New Beginning: A Wonderful Lord (1985) and A New Beginning: His Beautiful Family (1986), both of which are 13-week studies for new believers.  He also wrote with Gailyn Van Rheenen, The Status of Missions: A Nationwide Survey of Churches of Christ (2002).

Bob and Gina were honored in 2007 with The Christian Chronicle's Christian Service Award and in 2010 by Pepperdine University with their Distinguished Christian Service Award.
